Who the Hell Am I Anyway?
For most of my life I haven’t given too much thought to what others thought of me. Like most people, I felt different than lots of ways and wanted to express it, but growing up with traditional parents with traditional values in traditional surroundings surely meant you couldn’t have fun. Or could you?
So, I tried to sneak out of the house at night hoping my father didn’t notice my hair was spiked and I was wearing pants that were way too tight with a leopard print shirt (hey give me a break it was the ’80s and yes, he noticed).
So why am I telling you all of this? It’s because it relates to what I do. And here’s how: while everyone talks about branding these days, and what your brand should be, and what your brain should say, and how people should relate to your brand, brand this, brand that (yes, you probably guessed I’m sick to death of that word and feel like an ass when I throw it around too much), few people really hep anyone else understand the fact that you should not be afraid to be who you are, to be noticed, and or be afraid…
Of anything.
The only thing you should be afraid of is being boring. Or being like everyone else; average, lukewarm, vanilla etc. And if you are boring (I admit it,we are all sometimes), you don’t want your image to reflect that. It’s a fate worse than death.
So, my job is to help you color yourself, get noticed, be different, be unafraid. Remember that if you’re getting any attention, it’s good. Trust me, it’s true.
If you think you’re putting yourself “too far out there” with your image, your branding, or even your personal Mojo, just remember this; almost no one really cares. People have seen it all. They’re jaded. If you aim to be like everyone else and do whatever else is doing, no one will see you, notice you, or care about you. You’ll sink without a trace, not to mention waste a lot of marketing dollars and a whole lot of time. But there is way up and out.
People at the business end of your marketing efforts will always have much less of a reaction to the “You” that is put out there then you believe they will.
So reinvent yourself, Make Your Mark, put it out there and make it count.
Are you ready to have some fun? Give me a shout!
